Important Protocol To Follow When Getting A Full Body Massage

Full body massages are designed to cure aches and pains, as well as leave you feeling relaxed. These massages can vary depending on where you get them, but you should always follow this protocol to get the most out of each session.

Understand the Dress Code

Prior to your massage appointment, you'll want to read up on the appropriate dress wear. Not only does this facilitate the massage, it circumvents any possible awkward moments. For example, getting fully undressed when the rules explicitly state against it creates an embarrassing scenario for both you and the massage therapist.

Most practices today are okay with you undressing, as long as you have some sort of towel or robe wrapped around your sensitive areas. Just make sure you're comfortable with whatever you're wearing, as some massage sessions can last up to several hours.

Stay Hydrated

Before, during, and after your massage session, it's important to drink plenty of water. After all, some practices like to crank up the temperature so that you can sweat out impurities while having your body worked on. These excessive temperatures cause your body to lose water quickly, and if you're not careful, you may get dizzy and vomit.

Additionally, drinking water throughout these sessions helps build muscle tissue and allows your body to recover much quicker. Always keep a water bottle handy, and set reminders periodically throughout the day so you never forget to drink the recommended amounts. If you don't prefer plain water, there are plenty of other great drink options for hydration like coconut water and skim milk.  You could also add artificial flavors to water, including strawberry and lemon.

Remain Vocal

If you've never received a full body massage before, you may not know how your body is going to react. As such, don't worry about being vocal with your massage therapist. They are there to provide healing, after all.

If they are massaging too hard and causing pain, let them know. Getting on the same page with your therapist is paramount for getting the most out of the session. Additionally, talking with your massage therapist makes the session more engaging and helps lower your guard. You'll then be more receptive to their techniques.

After getting a fully body massage, you can feel like a completely different person. In order for it to work, though, you need to go in with an open mind and follow the correct etiquette. For more information, contact companies like Lansing Wellness Asian Body Works.
